{"id":141,"date":"2005-10-30T11:31:00","date_gmt":"2005-10-30T11:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eclecticamateur.wordpress.com\/2005\/10\/30\/catholic-envy"},"modified":"2013-10-07T10:05:03","modified_gmt":"2013-10-07T14:05:03","slug":"catholic-envy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.znfrey.com\/blog\/2005\/10\/catholic-envy.html\/","title":{"rendered":"Catholic Envy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was meditating a bit upon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bartleby.com\/103\/91.html\">Lepanto<\/a>, and fell into a moderate case of Catholic envy.<\/p>\n<p>After all, the Catholic church has these wonderfully triumphalistic feasts such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholic-forum.com\/saints\/ncd02012.htm\">Christ the King<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholic-forum.com\/saints\/ncd06219.htm\">Our Lady of Victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m pretty sure as Episcopalians, our corresponding feasts are of Jesus the Really Nice Rabbi and Our Lady of Perpetual Dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>Now that I&#8217;m envious and depressed, I think I&#8217;ll go read <a title=\"The Ballade of the White Horse\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cse.dmu.ac.uk\/~mward\/gkc\/books\/white-horse2.html\">The Ballad of the White Horse<\/a> as an antidote (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.randomhouse.com\/wotd\/index.pperl?date=20010613\">&#8220;hair of the dog&#8221;<\/a>, perhaps?). At least we haven&#8217;t taken <a href=\"http:\/\/elvis.rowan.edu\/%7Ekilroy\/JEK\/10\/26.html\">Alfred the Great<\/a> off of the list of feasts yet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was meditating a bit upon Lepanto, and fell into a moderate case of Catholic envy.
