The Diocese
of Newark, and Bishop Spong's
call
for a "New Reformation." (I would call it a deformation,
you can read his words and judge for yourself.)
Catholic Stuff
Ordinatio
Sacerdotalis is Pope John Paul II's encyclical on the
ordination of men (only) to the sacramental priesthood. It is
in direct response to the Anglican ordination of women priests.
It's worth a read -- the logic is good, and it is much
shorter than many of the arguments about it.
A NCR article on the
Anglican-Use Rite of the Catholic Church. It's Catholicism
done with the Book of Common Prayer (actually, it's a
revised 1928 BCP and it's named the Book of Common
Worship, but you get the idea ...
Collects
These collects were produced at the Episcopal Shared Ministries
of Northwest Ohio July 31, 1999 retreat:
Almighty and insistent God, whose will is for unity and peace among all
your children, grant us courage and strength to fulfill the mission you have
given us. Send your Holy Spirit to guide us in your way, and make us one body,
one spirit, in your son Jesus Christ, in whose Name we pray. Amen.
Father Creator, whose power moves in all the world, we give thanks for
our life in your kingdom and you have called us to sow your seeds in others.
Continue to work through us to complete your harvest in the world, in the
Name of Jesus Christ, our nourishment and our strength. Amen.
O God, you are on our doorsteop and you are with us always: we have given
you the keys to our hearts. Help us to trust in you as we give the keys to
others so that our hearts open to them. Help us seize the moment and accept
the challenge of witnessing to you. Amen.
Heavenly Father -- creator of all, motivator of the world, director of
our lives: thank you for bringing us together in this Shared Ministry,
allowing us to get to know one another and become friends. Open us to your
will. Take away our fears and give us respect for your diversity. Help us
find the courage to follow the path you have set for our Shared Ministry.
Amen.
